Discussions Discussion Student footprints
Kayla Baker, April 27, 2012

Hey, my name is Kayla and I attend North Adams High School. My freshman biology class has recently paricipated in the Carbon Footprint Challenge. I found out that my transportation rate was much higher than the average in my area, but everything else is lower especially my purchase rate. Any ideas on how to reduce my transportation rate if I can’t travel anywhere in my area without taking a car?

Kayla, maybe it wouldn't be so hard if you lived closer to town, but you don't. It isn't just that easy to get a bike and ride.

Hi kayla, I have many ideas to decrease my transportation carbon footprint, like: when you get your food you can buy them from local store instead of going to restaurants and eating fast food because fast food uses a lot of CO2 in making the food in big restaurants and transporting them to all stores. i also think you can reduce your foot print when you go out with your friends you can go out with one car instead of one car by picking up each other and maybe by traveling less especially if you travel a lot with air-planes these are most of the ideas that can decrease your carbon footprint.

Hi Kayla, for transportation you can do carpooling like if you're going to a place and your friends or neighbors are going to the same place you can go together in one car. This will decrease your Carbon footprint.
