I’ve been listening to a book on tape that offered a simple suggestion to making some of the changes we would like to make. The author John Izzo suggests that we write a change that we would like to make on a card that we always carry in a pocket. Each time we look at that card, it will remind us of that goal. What is a change you would like to make? Would it help you to write that on a reminder card?

Hello. My name is Nikolina and I'm from Croatia.
I think that is a brilliant idea. In that way, people would always have that by themselves and it would remind them that they should make a step forward, a step which would contribute to a specific issue we are facing.
The change I would like to make is related to the climate change. I think that this is one of the biggest issues nowadays and we can not change it over the night.
I think people must be informed that their activities such as burning of coal, oil, and natural gas, as well as deforestation and various agricultural and industrial practices have a really serious inpact on our planet and that those activities should be reduced as much as possible. -

my name is Fatima Andrade. I am a student in Oakland High School in Mr. Reinhartd’s class. I think that people need to be aware of how much harm they are doing to the environment. if every one knew how much their way of life affected the environment maybe they would be more considerate. It can be as easy as not riding your car every day and to just walk to school or to work, to turn off your tv for two more hours than usual. The change can be some simple and can help the environment so much.

Hello, my name is Armando, i am a senior at oakland high school and i am in ESA (envirenmental science academy). we have looked at our carbon footprints and i am verry amazed on how much we pollute in our daily lives. everything we do basically is related somehow to our carbon footprint, wether its traveling or just driving to school, it all effects our carbon footprint and no matter how hard we try to use as less as possible, it is sadly an inevitable action in our lives.

Dear Luis, yes, carbon emissions of some form are inevitable (at least with the way we produce energy, food and the things we buy these days) but you can still do a lot right now to lower your impact. Did the calculator help you identify any areas where you can effectively lower your impact?

I think us kids should get with our communities and see if we can mae a specific easy to get to recycling place for everybody. Then people could recycle things so much easier and you could send emails about it to the parents and the students. or make facebook messages about the place once it is made! It would reduce everyones Carbon footprint

My family started growing some vegies in our new garden. so we can not only have fresh vegetables but also to reduce our impact on the world. How much less CO2 will not be produced do you think?

“If you’re wondering what to make of the crazy weather of the past few years, maybe it’s time to check out some of the iPhone and Android apps you can use to study climate change and global warming.
Quite a few are devoted to the still-contentious issue. Many are for the Apple (AAPL) operating system, but there are some in the Android app store too.
By making the science visual, some of these apps let the nonprofessional see historic trends without having to wade through thousands of spreadsheets and databases.
What follows are a few selected apps. This list is not comprehensive, and is intended merely as a starting point.”

I’m Tracy Yuan from Dominican International School, Taipei, Taiwan. In this school year I was selected to attend the Global Issue Netwok at Singapore. It is a conference discussing about golbal issues. All attendants are all middle and high school students, who want to be a change- maker. This year’s slogan is “Time To Act, Time To Change.” In this event we discussed about over 20 main golbal issues and we paid most attention on golbal worming. Golbal warming is actually bigger and faster- grown than we think it is. It is caused the many dofferent kinds of carbonate impoisened. We came out solutions that are easy for people to act out and easy for them to spread out. Fist, we calculated how much carbon we had made by flights and local transpiration. Second, we created a meatless day that we could bring back this idea to our own schools. Third, we would like to do beach clean up, so the sea animal would be extinct. Last, each attendant wrote an self- action plan about how one is going to change his or her lifestyle to reduced carbon production. If eveyone could do a little for this world then maybe golbal warming would not affect human lives that severely.
