What is the Einztein Social Learning Network?

Einztein is the social learning network for higher education and lifelong learners. We bring the power of social networking to learning and enable anyone to create an online learning community for resource sharing, collaboration and discussion. Teachers can easily turn courses into social learning experiences. Students can form online study groups to research and learn together. Institutions can engage learners around their educational content.

I want to invite friends to join Einztein, how do I do that?

To invite your friends to Einztein, select “Invite People” from the drop down menu of “Account” located in the top green bar. You have 25 invites. Enter your friend’s email addresses in the pop-up window and an invite email will be sent to them. Be sure to let your friend know about the invitation and to check that spam/junk folder, where it sometimes gets caught!

I am looking for the courses that were on the previous version of Einztein, where did they go?

First of all, welcome to the new face of Einztein! Searching for courses? All curated courses can be found by going to the Einztein course discussions page (http://einztein.com/user/einztein-courses/profile/). Alternatively, if you have a specific course in mind, you can enter a term in the search module on the green bar at the top of the page and look for discussions in the search results that are “Curated by Einztein Course Discussions.”

How do I edit my profile?

To edit your profile, click on the “Profile” button located on the green bar at the top of any page. Once on this page, you have the option to edit your profile, your personal summary, experience and education. Tip: the edit profile button is located under your profile picture, which is also where you can change your profile picture!

How do I create a Discussion? A Learning Group?

Locate the “Create a Discussion” button, which can be found in the Post module, next to the “Discussions” listing on the right column of the screen, or on a learning group page under the description module. After selecting the button, simply enter a title for your discussion and any tags to help define the discussion. (Don’t forget to separate the tags with commas!) Finally, decide if you wish to make your discussion restricted. Making a discussion restricted means that all Einztein members can view the contents of the discussion, but only discussion members can post or comment on it. Users will have to “ask to join” your discussion if it is restricted. Don’t forget to add a discussion photo, description, and tags to help others find your discussion.

How do I join a Learning Group or Discussion?

To join a discussion either click the “Join Now” button in a post of the discussion or go to the discussion page and click the join button at the top of the page. Remember, if a discussion is restricted you must wait for the discussion owner to accept your request before you can post or comment on the discussion. The same rules apply for a restricted learning group. If the discussion is public, you will be a member right away and be able to post or comment immediately. To join a learning group, click the join button located at the top of the learning group page.

Where do I find stuff that interests me?

Finding learning groups, discussions, and posts that interest you is easy- simply go to the Explore page to browse posts and featured discussions and learning groups. If you are looking for something in particular, just type it in the search box found on the green bar at the top of every page.

What is this bookmarklet thing?

Bookmarklets are “clickable bookmarks” you add to your browser’s Bookmarks Toolbar as an easy way to post on Einztein. To find out more about the bookmarklet feature and how to use it in Einztein go to our bookmarklet page: http://beta.einztein.com/utilities/

What content can I put in a post?

In a post, you can insert text, videos, and links of any kind. If you insert a link from one of the content providers on this list: http://embed.ly/providers (includes YouTube, Flickr, Vimeo and many others), the content found at that link will be embedded in your post.

How do I edit a post, a discussion, or a learning group?

To edit or delete a post, click on the edit button located in the upper right corner of the post box. If you wish to edit your discussion or learning group by adding an description, photo, tags, or related links, go to the page for the discussion or learning group and click on the edit button located to the right of the discussion or learning group title.
