This course aims at the following: To provide content knowledge about the Vietnam War for pre/in-service teachers at the secondary level and for college faculty interested in using digital media in teaching this subject. To develop critical reading capacities of teachers for visual texts, such as comparison/contrast of narratives/information, examination of editing, framing, and voicing, evaluation of source credibility, and understanding of visual texts in context. To create classroom materials educators can employ to enhance and develop student knowledge of the Vietnam War and capacity for critical reading of historical visual texts.
