Ela ElaS-Croatia, Feb. 22, 2012

Hello, my name is Ela and I’m from Croatia.

My family and I usually buy local and organic food which is grown in an eco-friendly way and pay attention to packaging when shopping. I make my own reusable bags and always take them to the grocery store. I try to recycle as much as I can. I usually walk or travel by buses or trains.
My parents have had our windows and doors properly insulated and we plan to switch from incandescent to compact florescent light bulbs completely. We always try to reuse and fix things instead of buying new products. I try not to be impulsive when shopping and buy things I really need and like.
I think that we could reduce our carbon footprints by recycling more at school and that we should spend less on electricity and heating by turning them off when they are not necessary.
I think that we should always appreciate nature more than technology.

It's really nice to read such interesting ideas about our environment. I think, your view to this problem is perfect. I see that you pay attention to your CO2 emissions a lot and want to wish you good luck with that!

start going somewhere by bike, it's better than use bus or car, if distance is not very big ;) also it's good for your health

I think that being the average of your country doesn't mean that it is good….NO! Try to get your co2 use per year down to 5,000.

no creo que su huella de carbon es malo, pero siempre la puedes reducir. Coma menos carne, y mas vegetales locales.

Hey, Maeva. Nice to meet you. :) What's new in Spain?
My footprint is almost like yours. I think we should try to reduce it. Why not? We should try for a better environment. :) By the way, which category contributed the most to your co2 emissions?
    Have a nice day.

Hi,I think that your footprint is not very high, but you can try to reduce it.
  • ronald hillard ronald hillard April 18, 2012
you can reduce it by turning the lights off when you dont need them on, by riding or walking instead of using a car. you can also turn off the sink intill you need it instead of leaving it on when you do dishs and brush your teeth

Liana P-Romania, Feb. 20, 2012

Hello everyone ! Since my teacher has told me about this project I was really excited . I think this projet will help many people to understand how to become far more aware of the environmental issues. My total carbon foot print is 5984 kg of CO2 per year. I hope that after this project I will reduce my carbon footprint as in the present I have a high consume.

Hi Liana, I completely agree with you, this project can convice many people to start caring for our future. Without the beauty of nature and natural processes this world won't be the same. So, I think it's time, although it's maybe a little late, to repair all the damage we have caused.
  • Liana P-Romania Liana P-Romania Feb. 23, 2012
Never it`s too late. The planet can be saved as the nature is on our side. The earth want to be saved and I little work done by us will change many things in a good way. We can enjoy the beauty of the nature many, many years if we know how to maintain it.
  • Mahmoud Ghidan Mahmoud Ghidan May 5, 2012
I think thats great! but that doesn't mean that you should stop….keep going.

Miguel Martínez, Feb. 20, 2012

Hi! My name is Miguel Martínez Navarro Gonçalves Ciordia Gonzalez, I´m form Zaragoza Spain. The last week in the sochool we should a work for know our carboon footprint. The mine is 5979.
This proyect is very interseting for arouse the students with the environment and reduce our pollution. In my opinion the consume by person is very much in Spain. For curiosity I look for the consum in EE. UU. is surprising, in some states the consum is very lower but in others states (Washington, New York…) the consume is the higest of the world.
At the transports I have a high consume because I have travelled to London by plane.
I could reduce consume in home if I would haves used less hours the computer.
My consume in food and purchases is optim so I could reduce a little more but it is good

Compared to the average of your country thats good! One way of reducing your transportation co2 use, is that you could ride a bike to and from nearby places. Keep it up! ;)

Esteban González, Feb. 20, 2012

Hi! My name is Esteban, I’m from Zaragoza, Spain. Last week I did a test to calculate the CO2 I produce, and the result was 6305 kg/year.
It is a little lower than the average of my country (6968 kg/year).
I think this is very much CO2/person, we are so many people in the world and lot of people produces even more than the average.
This project is useful cause now we realize what we produce and now we can try to reduce the pollution we create. I hope produce less CO2 in the future.
