“if everyone does a little, no one has to do a lot”. This statement is very true in this case. Everyone can do the little things to be environmentally friendly such as turning the water off while brushing your teeth or turning lights off when you leave a room. One person doesn’t need to pick up trash for hours a day, but everyone can pick up a piece of trash when they walk by one.

I eat a lot of organic foods, I pay particular attention to eating organic meats, eggs, and milk products generally because I think it is safer and healthier. The fact that these choices reduce my overall carbon footprint is a great side effect for me! However, I read an interesting article about organic animal feed (particularly soy products) having to be imported to the United States from other countries, and a large portion of these came from places as far as China or India. If you are eating organic foods for the purpose of making more environmentally friendly decisions, this is a very concerning thought. I am unsure of how to handle this problem and am open to any suggestions!
If i had my own house i would do a lot to make sure that it is a lot more energy efficient. I would start off by having solar panels installed on my roof and i would use the sunlight as my source of energy and i would have a generator just in case. I would use energy efficient light bulbs all over my house and that would also lower it. and i would live in a urban place on the outskirts of a city but definitely not in the country. I hate the country. And i would probably get my food from the same places but i would just go to the farmers market more often.
I didn’t realize how much higher my carbon footprint on my food choices was than that of the rest of the United States and other countries. I noticed it was most likely due to the fact that for my sports choices i have to have a great calorie intake and a high protein intake and those variables probably increase my footprint significantly. I also eat a lot of other products some that i may need and others not so much. Instead of wasting money i could donate or find a way to help someone who may not be as lucky as i am to have 3 or more meals a day. Some people don’t even have one a day and they go through the daily struggle to survive without starving so that could be something i do to help since that is a growing problem in our nation.
There are little things in my life that I am will to adjust to help out my carbon footprint. For example, I now make sure that I do not leave the water running while I am brushing my teeth. More ways to save water in the bathroom are not flushing and turning the water off when you are not rinsing in the shower but I am unwilling to start doing either of those. I try to shut off all the lights in rooms that I see are not in use while I am walking around my house and I do not leave a room without turning the lights off. I do carpool a lot with my friends but I am unwilling to stop using a car and walk or take a bike places because I live to far out in the middle of nowhere.
there are many things in my life that i am not willing to change, but there are also some things in my life that i can’t change. For example my house is pretty big but because I do not own the house I can’t change it. One thing that i can change but am unwilling to do so is ride a bike instead of driving places. Another thing that I can’t change is how my house/water is heated. I do not have control of how my house was built.
Traveling is a major contributor to carbon footprint to many people and to myself. The public does not really know the effects that transportation has on our environment. I was unaware of it until I calculated my carbon footprint. We need to advocate to more people and teach them ways on how to lower this problem. Just carpooling with others when traveling to places or getting a more energy efficient car is some ways to help this.
Keeping our world and environment sustainable and clean is difficult for everyone, but the responsibility is on every person in the world. We as humans need to have a passion or interest in keeping the world clean. There are many ways to successfully contribute to helping keep the environment sustainable. People can decrease in their use of plastic and try to lower their carbon footprint. Recycling more or just picking up the trash you see on the ground can help in little ways, which can add up to a big success.
There are many factors about my daily life that i and not willing to change and some things that i truly can’t change because i have no control over. One of the main reason my carbon emission is so high is because of the size of my house. The house that I currently live in is pretty big and that greatly effects my carbon emission. But besides the things that i truly have no control over can admit that there things about my daily life that i can change to improve and lower my personal carbon footprint, the only problem is now things have become habit. Also there are other variables that have also increased my carbon emission. But i believe that everyone should take the time to reduce his or her carbon footprint, if we all do that then over time the world will become healthier as a whole.
I believe that the desire of having the latest technology is more of a want rather than that of a need. Having the latest technology is not a necessary factory to ensure a person’s survival. Like in the case of cell phones and other devices, we do not need to have the newest model of a phone all you truly need your phone to do is call people and text others. You may call or text someone to just keep in contact or maybe in the case of an emergency. Using a phone for anything else is truly just a perk that keeps the user entertained but those apps and other perks are not needed for someone to survive. Thats one problem with our society today, we are always mixing up our wants and desires with our needs and necessities. I can admit i am guilty of this but maybe one day we all will come to appreciate and realize the things we want and need in life.
