It’s an everybody thing!77% of teens own cell phones; 35% of adults own a smart phone. 38% of cell phone owners use it during commercials. 13% of cell phone owners say they have used their phones to avoid interacting with people.We need to use cell phones but in normal amounts.

Hello everyone, my names is Federico. I live in Cerveno, a small village in the north of Italy. I think that this problem concerns mainly the young. For example in my school more and more young people want to buy a new phone or a new computer only for fashion or to have the latest model. I think that this isn’t a need; for example I don’t change a phone until it still works and I think everyone should learn to do it.

Technology is a want. You don’t need the latest technology to get by but it it is nice to have it.
But now days it seems to be a requirement to have some kind of internet using equipment to get through school or work. This is what society has come to.

I think the having the latest technology is a need for people who actually have to use them for business and work. However, it is a want for people who does not necessarily need them. For example, many people in my school have iphone 5 or some other newest technology, but I highly doubt that a 16 year old teenager needs such a high technology to help himself to study or work? The phone I have right now is my second one, I had my first phone since gr. 6, and got a new phone in gr. 9. I only buy a new mp3 if it is broken. Personally, I do not need a new model. I think most of the electronic devices affect the environment in the society, people should be careful and only buy necessary needs.

” I am fine with what I have as long as it works.” Few people think about this. I’ve learned that technology is always advancing itself and every month something new is coming out. So those who have the newest stuff before it even hits the shelf only have the spotlight for a while before something else comes.
In this time, people WANT the last generation mobile or iPod or PC, but every phone are all equal, it’s just a matter of being the latest fashion and make themselves better.
I believe that a person is not better just because it has the latest generation of mobile.
We use our until it works so as to pollute much less.

Hello my name is Andrea, I’m 17 I live in Italy. I think technology has been especially created to help the man in every day life, such as cell phones that allow you to stay in touch with anyone, anywhere. It is true that the excessive use of technology, such as video games is something completely useless and you could easily do without it; alternative would be to be with friends to spend some time outdoors rather than being alone in front of a screen.

It seems to me like having the latest technology is usually not a need. I don’t really see a huge difference between the newest version of the Iphone and the last generation. I think that it’s fine to upgrade every few generations when it gets to the point that what you have is completely unusable compared to new things.

The technology is growing, but as long as our planet will be able to bear it? I think we should use technology for those jobs where it is needed, for example in medicine.
Other uses should be more moderate to not waste much of our resources for unnecessary reasons.

Hello everyone. My name is Greta and I am Italian. I think by now we all have at least one phone and many other technological objects such as video games, computers…. In my opinion they are’nt necessary, but they are becoming affected. We should learn to think more about what we really need not always what we want at all costs. It is also true that today the mobile phone is a need because it is easier to keep in touch with the people and also the presence of the internet on the phone is a good thing because it gives you the opportunity to be connected with the world at any time of the day. What I mean is that we don’t keep a cell phone and change it only when it breaks but now we change it according to the new trend and fashion.

I think getting the latest technology is a want, not a need, unless for example your old phone or mp3 player etc. don’t work anymore! If they still work you shouldn’t be getting new stuff when it’s not necessary. Although I have to say the newer the technology is the more eco-friendly it tends to be (Energy star, etc.)
