QATAR WORLD CUP 2022: A COLOSSAL WRECK- BOUNDLESS AND BARE.

To put it mildly, these plans have caused surprise among scientists. Air-conditioning, not to mention air-conditioned stadiums, famously requires a vast amount of energy, even in temperate climates. The idea that solar energy can power cooling systems in a number of large stadia, reducing the temperatures from 40 degrees to 27, would seem to belong in the realm of dreams.

Occupy the Climate Emergency: Buddhist Reflections on Inter-generational Justice

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-stanley/occupy-the-climate-emerge_b_1116727.html

Since our time on this wondrous planet is brief, we must consider our responsibility to all those who will come after us, whose well-being will depend on the decisions we make today. Or shall we “occupy” this climate emergency instead of denying it — until the urgent truth of our situation is acted upon?

Discussions Discussion Deforestation SOS
Camilla Pashar, Dec. 10, 2011

Brazil’s Senate passed the new Forest Code late on Tuesday.

Brazil’s Senate, on Tuesday, passed a new Forest Code which will make it difficult to meet its targets on curbing greenhouse emissions, according to a former environment minister.

The bill offers an amnesty to deforesters, reduces forest protection, and will lead to future deforestation,” said Marina Silva [Brazilian presidential candidate] at the UN climate talks in South Africa.
