Ewa K-Poland, May 10, 2013

Hello, my name is Ewa. I’m 17 years old and I’m from south Poland. I have calculated my footprint and I found out that the total amount of CO2 I realise is 4757 kg per year. I’m glad because it is much lower than the average one realise in Poland - 6862kg CO2 per year and in the class is similar situation because class result is 7677.
The category which is my lowest one is a purchases -128. It doesn’t suprise me because I buy electrical equipmentl very seldom and when I really need it. The category which is my my highest one is home- 3139. It doesn’t suprise me too because me and my family spend a lot of time in the house. We use electronic equipment many hours a day, bulbs light up most of a day and we burn a lot of coal in the winter and sometimes in another seasons. I know it isn’t good.
I think my family can more ride on bicycle than by car, spend more relaxing time outside than e.g. on the Internet or Tv. We should burn less coal to heating my house but I do not think I persuaded my family to change the method of heating in a more ecological way because my parent thinks that it is more expensive to change it and maintain it.

For my carbon footprint, I was suprised at the results. I had predicted that my footprint would be higher than the average human. I was correct, as my footprint was higher than the average humans for sure, but compared to my region it was far below average. The totals for me overall were transportation:5532 kg, home:10236 kg, food: 845 kg, and purchases 527 kg. I was not suprised to see the purchase and food areas so low, I tend to eat vegetarian most days and I don’t get a chance to shop very much. But what shocked me slightly was the home section. This high number is probably due to the large amount of electronics my family and I use, and the AC system is almost always on super cold. So maybe my carbon footprint will be lowered if we lower our electronics time and turn off the AC more often.

Hi I’m Kristina and I am from the United States.
I predicted that my carbon footprint would be about the same as the average person in
Texas and higher than the average human because of looking at the map of the world, I saw that people in America have a much higher carbon footprint than people in other countries. This is probably because we have so many resources and we drive cars so often without carpooling. We clog up the streets with cars, especially in Texas, where the weather is always high and no one likes to walk or ride their bike. In states like California, where the weather is much cooler, and pleasant, the people are more active and do not have to use their cars that often. These people can ride bikes and walk to places, because the weather is bearable.

Joyce Yang, Nov. 6, 2012

Hi, my name is Joyce Yang I am a 14 years old girl from Taiwan and I will like to share about the carbon foot print problem in Taiwan, well mainly the transportation problem.
Taiwan is a small crowded country, but a lot of people in Taiwan get a motorcycle and they drive it even for a small distance! Even though Taiwan’s government put a lot of bicycle around Taipei, which is the capital of Taiwan, and it become one of the transportation system in Taipei.
The solution of providing better transportation system is really good solution, so the government should provide the system to other area of Taiwan also, and other country can do the same thing, because it is good to our health and can save the oil.
