My name is Annie and after taking the carbon footprint challenge, I noticed my food footprint was not as high as others! This is because I try to eat fresh vegetables and fruit and limit my meat intake. This shows you that every little bit helps to reduce your carbon footprint. However, my driving footprint is what I need to work on and I will try to improve!

I think that having the latest technology is a want not a need. I do think that in this day and time everyone does need some way to stay in contact with others and a way to do research if needed. I also wonder how we are going to stay up with the latest technology if they are coming up with new things everyday. So in so since technology is a need. Americans need ways to stay connected with the news and friends. That way maybe we can make our carbon foot print a little better. For example we can car pool and not waste gas going somewhere that is closed. We can find can use our technology to find places closer to where we are and so many other examples. I do think that we do need technology but i do not think that we need the latest technology. To some it all up technology is a need but the latest technology is a want.
My name is Greta and I am from Lithuania. I was not that surprised by my carbon footprint. My two highest categories were food and home. We do not recycle. But my family members are ready to start recycling. I think we will become more environmental friendly and we will made some changes in our lifestyle :)
Hi! I’m Greta from Lithuania :) I use my phone and computer every day… I personally believe that latest technology is a want and I completely agree with you, Maddi :) In my opinion, I think that there is no reason to go out and buy the newest model just because it’s new. Of course new technology like cell phones or computers makes our life easier, not having this technology would be hard to do, but I think, we can use them less, than we use mostly.
I believe that in today’s ever-growing world, technology is needed to thrive. But in saying that, I also believe that having all of these things, and upgrading every few months is a bit ridiculous. Once the entire world gets onboard with the technology train, we could lower our carbon footprint as a whole by the thousands. It would be beneficial for us to have this new way of life, and a new era of communication and needs. Though I think this, I am not saying that having such technologies like, the latest computer or cellphone will always be the answer to your problems. I just believe that as things get to grow and expand in knowledge, we are going to need technology to live. So honestly, I believe that technology is considered both a want and a need. We need it to begin our journey as an Earth to become the more defined and savvy than we are. But it is also a want because people tend to only want these new technologies to look cool, or talk to friends. Which is kind of counterproductive, because of all technologies can do.
In my carbon footprint a big part of it came from the food portion. I think that more things in grocery stores should be more organic and have less packaging. More food that we are not using that will just end up in the trash should be sent to other countries instead of throwing them away. It will not only help us but help them too. The more organic foods you eat them more likely your carbon footprint will be lower. I did not realize the impact what I ate had on my carbon footprint and I just took that for granted. Living in the US also plays a part in the food portion of my carbon footprint since there is a lot of fast food. But if they’re where more healthy choices and organic foods where cheaper I feel as though everyone’s carbon footprint would be a lot lower.
To sustain a responsible world everyone needs to do there share of work. If everyone did nothing and where not responsible then our world would not be a place where someone would want to live. There are simple tips that everyone can do to keep our world safe and health. Recycling is a big thing that everyone is capable of do and it helps out the world and decreases your carbon footprint. Other thing one can do is changing the light bulbs in your house to energy efficient ones, which reduces your electricity bill. Another thing is buying cost and energy efficient appliances. Since pole use those everyday that would help greatly with improving your carbon footprint. Buying recycled supplies and using less water each day also helps.
If I where to have my own house i would try to make as many things in my house as energy efficient as possible. One it would cut down on how much i speed each year and it would improve the environment around me. I would have a lot more freedom on what I choose to do because it is my house. I would be able to choose certain appliances and light bulbs i use to help make my carbon footprint lower also. I do not think I would choose to live on the middle of a city which would help me with my carbon footprint and energy costs. But i would choose a place where it would be easy to get groceries that are fresh and places I could go to that are in walking distance.
For me, I would not be able to give up my soft drinks and all the plastic that I waste when I use them. I do recycle, but I that if I did not buy the soft drinks then I there would be no need to recycle them. I also would not be able to give up driving my car. I know I could ride my bike to places, but to ride my bike into town or even to my school would take 30 minutes to an hour. There would also be a problem of getting to my father’s house every other weekend when he lives in another state (sc to nc). It may not seem like a long drive, but if I were to walk or ride to my dad’s house it would be all day and I would not be able to carry any of my things to his house. These are some of the things that I would not be able to give up.
