Bridgepoint Education has been found out. Actually, everyone in the college diploma industry already knew about it because quite a few followed the same model. (1) Buy a small but accredited college on the cheap. (2) Shift the college’s focus to offering online courses. (3) Let any student through the “door” and help them secure financial aid from the feds. (4) Sit back and watch the multimillion dollar money tree grow. Nothing wrong so far, except that the courses offered are average to poor, and the students drop out in droves. No one makes out except the execs at places like Bridgepoint, which generated about 700 MILLION DOLLARS in revenue last year. Please, let’s stop this insanity.
